Preparation of City of Airdrie Environmental Policy Documents

Spencer Environmental prepared three key policy documents for the City of Airdrie: Framework for Biophysical Inventories and Impact Assessments, Dedication of Environmental Reserve Policy and a Policy on Municipal Reserves. These policies provide Airdrie with three new tools to assist in achieving sustainable development. Each of these tools contribute to the enhancement of the City’s open space system, the protection of environmentally significant areas and the reduction of adverse development-related impacts on the natural environment.

St. Albert Natural Area Update, Conservation and Management Plan
Location: St. Albert, Alberta
Client: City of St. Albert
Spencer Environmental prepared a comprehensive update and assessment of St. Albert’s natural area inventory to inform that City’s new ecological framework approach to natural area conservation and management. Deliverables included a City-wide Conservation Plan to guide future conservation efforts and Natural Area management plan to assist in sustaining protected areas. The exercise adopted a more regional approach and the study area included a buffer into adjacent municipalities.
