Spencer Environmental has three and half decades of experience scoping and preparing environmental assessments and biophysical assessments for a variety of circumstances, project types and triggers, and to meet the requirements of all orders of government. We have practical experience with the full life-cycle of projects enabling us to expertly inform impact assessment and develop mitigation measures. We prepare the following types of impact assessment documents:  

  • Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) pursuant to municipal, provincial or federal regulatory triggers

  • Environmental Evaluation (EE) as required by Alberta Transportation

  • Environmental Overview (EO) in support of early project planning

  • Biophysical Impact Assessment (BIA), typically pursuant to municipal triggers

Permitting/Regulatory

Spencer Environmental has acquired environmental approvals and permits, pursuant to statutory and policy requirements of all orders of government. We’ve secured hundreds of approvals for all manner of temporary and permanent, minor and major works and have developed a reputation for tackling complex regulatory issues. Our permitting services include liaising with regulators, minimizing environmental impact to assist in permit acquisition, providing supporting technical documents, developing innovative compensation programs, preparing application packages and assisting with public engagement/notification requirements. We are abreast of legislative and policy changes and have deep experience with the following statutes and associated approvals:
