Aurum Road Clover Bar Ravine Crossing Wildlife Movement and Wetland Analysis

Spencer Environmental undertook field investigations and analysis of baseline wildlife movement to inform preliminary design development for the Aurum Road crossing at Clover Bar Ravine. A combination of snow tracking and camera traps was used to document species presence and wildlife movement in the ravine. Results were then used to evaluate four crossing options and provide design recommendations to maintain wildlife movement and ecological connectivity in the ravine and in the greater North Saskatchewan River Valley system. A desktop evaluation of wetland presence and characterization was also conducted for the project area.

Phase II Ecological Network Report Edmonton Energy and Technology Park Chemical Precinct
Location: Edmonton, Alberta
Client: ISL Engineering and Land Services Ltd.; City of Edmonton
Spencer Environmental undertook ecological studies and analyses in support of a rezoning application for an eco-industrial complex in this 1,730 ha area in northeast Edmonton. The assignment included comprehensive desktop ecological network analysis of approximately 45 quarter sections of land and then more detailed field analysis of approximately nine quarter sections. Data from this analysis were used to inform a quantitative assessment of ecological significance and was then used directly by the City to inform land use planning decisions. Spencer Environmental was also invited by the City to participate in a multi-disciplinary city-private sector workshop to present on the ecological considerations/requirements of future land development.
